The mud of the Euganean hot springs
detoxifies, reduces inflammation and
thoroughly decongests, stimulates and
oxygenates blood and tissues, bestowing
energy and vitality.
Rich in trace elements, it is collected from
the bottom of a small volcanic lake in the
Euganean Hills, separated from impurities,
left to mature in the hot spring waters in
which sprouts a unique and natural
microflora that determines its extraordinary
properties.
The thermal culture in Abano is very
ancient, the oldest in Europe, and was able
to surpass empiricist methods for studying
the efficiency of the raw materials through
research and scientific proof. Abano is the
largest example in the world of the
prevention and cure of osteoarthritis and
osteoporosis, and of many articulation
pathologies.
Mud application process
In order to tailor our mud therapy to each
guest's individual needs, our Health
Director will conduct an evaluation before
starting treatment. This will determine the
temperature of the mud and duration of
application.
The mud is applied to the body gradually
and will remain on between 15 and 20
minutes. It will then be removed and the
guest will shower before being bathed in
thermal water at a temperature of about 37
degrees C. for about 8 minutes. The
guests are then dried with warm towels and
led to their bed where they then experience
a perspiration reaction and enjoy total
relaxation for about 40 minutes. A
thermal massage follows to intensify the
relaxation induced by the mud therapy.
In summary, you will experience five
separate steps that maximize the benefits of
our mud therapy: application, cleansing
shower, thermal bath, perspiration reaction
and massage. The result of this therapy is a
complete body tone-up of the muscular and
nervous systems.
